| I'm 24 and I've already been through most of life's major milestones. Each one seeming more important than the last. My wedding day? A year of planning for a four hour party. Ridiculous right? Especially when you compare it to the nine short months it takes for someone to make a new person that will forever be a part of their life.
In eight weeks life is never going to be the same for me because in eight weeks I'm going to be a mom. As excited as I was for all the other important milestones in my life nothing compares to how excited I am to be this little girls mommy. The trip into motherhood has been a transcendent experience for me, and I know its just beginning.
A lot crosses your mind in the nine months you're creating a life. What kind of mom will I be? Am I destined to turn out like my parents? Will my child be happy? What kind of person will she be? Will she be healthy? What will I do wrong? What will labor be like?
Being able to communicate all these hopes and fears with a group of strong women who have experienced it has been invaluable. Sometimes I feel like us moms have this wonderful secret that no one else could even begin to understand, so we don't even try to explain it. NMDC Mommies has been a great place to help me begin my journey into motherhood. You all inspire me in different ways and I know I have so much to learn from every one of you. |
